STONE

This is how I work the… stone

Search for the stones in the quarries and in the nature … ¡what a pleasure! I look through them, dive within their core and I search in their guts the idea that nests in my head; tragical moments but, ¡what a wonder! My idea is there, I only need to represent it. These moments are unique and unrepeatable, they born and die with each piece.

All the stones can make me fall in love, some already have. Like any sculptor, I like the Carrara and Macael Marbles, the fair/clear Travertine*, and the black Belgian and Calatorao Marbles; but my predilections are on some stones that are rarely worked in scultures, either because they are rarely found or because of their extremely hardness makes them almost impossible to work.
These stones are Porfids – in red, purple or green like colors – and the stones that I call “from the Las Acemas Ravine”, of a hypnotizing green.
